Infectious diseases in human populations are seldom seen as pan of a permanently occurring phenomenon in natural ecosystems. Their relationships to predatorprey or host-parasite systems are not evident. The conceptual relationships between these systems is established fhrough a basic deterministic model in this note, with special reference to populational fluctuations and epidemic recurren ce.
